Premium 1.0 Power Amplifier
Based around the UcD™ concept, we have designed a new series of amplifiers and pre-amplifiers starting with the Premium 1.0 Power Amplifier. The Premium 1.0 which is the first product in a series is a full mono amplifier which has some real high-end ambitions
The main characteristic of the Premium 1.0 is it's incredible transparancy whilst still providing the listener with foot tapping involvement. Even though the Premium 1.0 is priced agressively it shares many of the features of it's larger brother, the Reference 4.0. The core of the amplifier is formed by an extensively modified UcD™ module designed by Bruno Putzeys who is a leading engineer in the field of class D technology. Power Supply
The power supply of the amplifier is of the linear type which features a high quality torroidal transformer. Furthermore, the main power rails of the amplifier consist of 10 high quality parallel capacitors which ensure that the power supply has a very low ESR. The transformer is fitted with dual 115 primaries which means that after conversion by your dealer the amplifier will work in both 110V & 220V countries.
SE Version
The SE Version additionally offers discrete power regulators for the all important input buffer section as well as upgraded capacitors for even better sonics. Core & inputs
The amplifier has a gain of 26dB and is centered around the famous LM4562 opamp from National Semiconductor. There is a single input at the back of the unit which is a single ended connection. At special request we can fit a balanced connector & appropriate cabling for a true balanced connection. The input is protected by two very high quality audiophile input capacitors. If there is no DC present on the input, two jumpers can be fitted to bypass these capacitors for a true high end experience. After all the best caps are "no caps"!
Enclosure
No concessions have been made in the construction of the Premium 1.0 enclosure, from the 30mm thick CNC cut frontpanel, the rearpanel with fully countersunk connectors to the shell which is a hefty rectangular section with a 3mm wall thickness. The whole enclosure features a high quality chemically brightened anodised finish. All of the enclosure and screws used are either aluminium or stainless steel (non magnetic). The frontpanel is decorated with a CNC engraved logo and subtle 1mm white led.
Colours
Currently the premium 1.0 is available in silver, we can also supply the Premium 1.0 in anodised black at special request.
Multichannel
An interesting feature of the Premium 1.0 is its size. The unit measures a stunning 50x100x325mm which means that you can fit 7 units in the space of a single 440mm component.
Technical Specifications
Important note: The amplifier is shipped AC coupled with high quality input capacitors in place for protection. Provided the preamplifier does not have DC on its output these capacitors may be bridged for best results. This should always be performed by us or your Hexateq dealer. Modification of the amplifier by non-authorised parties will void warranty.
